Unboxing Chinese Dress Girl

This time I’m looking at “Chinese Dress Girl,” an original character designed by the artist oekakizuki, brought to 1/6 scale by VIOLET STUDIO. Deira handled the sculpt and Moguravo the paintwork. Alongside the Chinese-restaurant waitress look, the figure comes with a complete swappable body.

The hair is the first thing that catches your eye out of the box. Each blonde strand is cut in finely enough that you can follow the flow all the way through, and the tips and the length falling down her back are moulded in a semi-translucent material. Catch it under a light and it glows through — at 1/6 scale that effect really carries.

The qipao is a white-and-blue micro-mini, and her chest fills it to bursting; you can read the tension in the fabric straight off the sculpt. The back is laced open, and below the waist there’s almost nothing covering her at all. Black garter stockings and white heels round it out, playing off the white of the dress nicely.

Her skin sits on the pale side and has a real sense of translucency to it. The finish leans matte, but the shading is properly laid in, so nothing reads flat — if anything it pushes the softness. The body sculpt was already on the alluring side, and this skin tone only helps.

Worth noting: neither the qipao body nor the swap body is wearing any underwear. Nothing is glossed over down there — it’s fully sculpted and painted, and the areolae are done in a pale tone with a faint gloss over them, so the sheen contrasts against the matte skin. A smart touch.

The thing that quietly impressed me most, though, is how the body swap is engineered. Once the torso is seated, the joint doesn’t press flat against the painted surface of the main body, so repeated swapping won’t rub the paint off. It’s clearly designed on the assumption that owners will switch between the two — a small detail, but a very welcome one.

The base is a red disc with gold auspicious patterning, which keeps the Chinese theme going. Together with the tray and bamboo steamer she’s carrying, the whole package puts the character’s setting across without needing an explanation.

Verdict

Translucent hair, pale skin with genuine depth to it, and sculpting that doesn’t shy away from anything — the highlights are all there. Add a body-swap design that won’t scuff the paint and you can move between the two looks as often as you like. The sculpt, the paint and the engineering all hold up.
