Shikinami Asuka Langley Reimagined as a Gorgeous Japanese Doll — Yoshitoku x F:NEX Collaboration for Evangelion’s 30th Anniversary
FURYU’s premium hobby label F:NEX has transformed Shikinami Asuka Langley from Evangelion: New Theatrical Edition into a Japanese doll figure. Created as a special piece celebrating Evangelion’s 30th anniversary, the figure is a collaboration between century-old doll maker Yoshitoku and F:NEX.
The coloring evokes her plugsuit, and the obi sash pattern recalls an A.T. Field, all rendered through luxurious real kimono fabric — woven brocade from Kyoto’s renowned textile house Nishimura Shoji Shoten (founded 1828) for the kimono, and from Nishijin-ori weaver Morisan (founded 1921) for the obi. The result blends the character’s identity with the beauty unique to traditional Japanese dolls, capturing Asuka’s vibrant, dynamic presence.
Rei Ayanami has also been reimagined as a companion Japanese doll, and a two-figure set bundled with a special folding screen (byobu) is available as well.
