Homura Akemi Reimagined as a Striking Japanese Doll — Yoshitoku x F:NEX Collaboration
FURYU’s premium hobby label F:NEX has transformed Homura Akemi from Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Rebellion into a Japanese doll figure, created by century-old doll maker Yoshitoku in collaboration with F:NEX.
Her flowing hair and tilted, smiling expression capture Homura’s beauty, while dynamic leg posing adds extra flair to the figure. Details such as the Kyubey-motif drawstring pouch and hair ornaments are painted to match the kimono’s palette for a cohesive look.
The costume prototype was created by doll artist Ayumi Uyama, styled in a Japanese-Western fusion that echoes Homura’s transformed magical girl silhouette. The furisode sleeves are dyed using the katayuzen technique in a deep purple base scattered with flowers and butterflies, rendered by Kyoto’s Nishijin-ori weaver Morisan at a yuzen dyeing workshop, while the obi’s gold brocade was crafted by Kyoto textile house Bando Shoten.
Madoka Kaname has also been reimagined as a companion Japanese doll, and a two-figure set bundled with a special acrylic display case is available as well.
